“My
child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
What you learn from them will crown you with
grace
and be a chain of honor around
your neck.” – Proverbs 1:8-9 (NLT)
There are some individuals, who cannot wait until
they are 18, so they can move out of their parents’ house, because they do not
like their “rules”. Of course, they do
not understand, that the “rules” are for their own benefit. What they do not know is that God has given us
“rules” to live by also. He has given us
the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) in the old testament. Jesus also gave us two especially important
ones in Mark 12:30-31, “Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength.’
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
There is no commandment greater than these.”.
Rules
were made not to hurt you, but to keep you on the right path, so that you can
live a long life full of joy and prosperity. Love will always have your best interest
at heart.
